Anyone have any or know where I can get the bolts that bolt the torsion box end cap onto the back of the torsion box? Just need 4 bolts and 2 of the square nuts.

The easiest thing to do if you don't know the specifics on thread pitch/length/type is to just call Wes and ClassicHeartbeat. (WA). He seems to be the most committed guy in the 1st Gen community, especially when it comes to getting new parts developed (just announced a brand-new, high quality OEM body mount kit, fuel filler rubber grommet reproduction, and tons of smaller hard-to-find stuff) :waytogo:

He probably knows exactly what you need off the top of his head.

I actually just decided to get mine bolted on correctly too. I was able to get all the bolts from napa. 14 per side!

I painted mine 5 years ago and have never put them back on. I like being able to see inside my boxes

The torsion box doesn't really do much for you structurally with that rear panel missing...

Not really a hardware store item, didn't think about the auto parts stores. Not sure they would have the funky square nuts though?

Square nuts are often used on electrical outlet boxes,so they shouldn't be too hard to find if you need 1/4" nuts..I have a drawer full of 1/4" ones..

And if you need 5/16" coarse thread ones,I have about half a pail full of them leftover from assembling my quonset garage--I made my own endwalls out of wood, but they shipped enough nuts & bolts to erect metal end walls..

I also have some 3/8"coarse "thick" square nuts used with Uni-Strut channels..

It wouldn't be too hard to make some square nuts out of flat stock too, just drill & tap the holes...

Yup, that is why I'm getting mine put on, finally. I've been putting it off for years, but this last trip to BB made it pretty obvious I need to stiffen things up a bit. I'm not at the point that I can do a cage, but at least getting everything I can out of the factory set up should help.

The square nuts are just weld nuts and should all be welded in place. A thick regular hex nut would work just fine if you can't find weld nuts, but I'd bet NAPA has them.
As far as the bolts go, NAPA was the only auto parts store around here (SLC) that had them. You could find a few on the racks at O'reilly or Autozone, but it would be expensive and hard to find enough. Fastenal or another nut and bolt store would probably have them too, but I didn't check.

They are 3/8" bolts with the washer captured on the bolt and the tip tapered. I think they are 1/2" to 3/4" long, but I had to get 1" bolts since that is all NAPA carried. Nothing there is tight enough to make that a problem. It'll just take me a little longer to thread them all in.

I kept a lot of OEM bolts off the various GM trucks I parted out--I have some 3/8" fine thread bolts that held the door hinges to the cab on a '71 Suburban I parted, that are about 1" long and have the pointed ends and washer head...

I kept quite a few of the 5/16" bolts they
used on the front fenders and inner fenders too...those are still "around" at parts stores, but are blister packed and quite costly if you need more than a few--I go salvage yard shopping for oem hardware sometimes--there are a few bolts you cant source locally easily, like that weird 12 point headed one at the steering box to steering shaft..

I've noticed GM uses quite a few "non-standard" length bolts too--like the exhaust manifold ones that are about 2-3/8" long--most stores only have bolts 2-1/2" or 2-1/4" long,so you either have to cut longer ones down and cut more threads,or use washers--or go with the shorter ones and have less threads holding them on..

What he said. The bolts can be had at a tractor supply if you have those. The weld nuts should be available anywhere. I've got some at Home Depot, etc. A regular nut works fine too if you can weld it up from the opposite side ok.

Did you Locate some ? I more than likely have some, I could look Saturday and let you know
I might have found someone that has some but they haven't got back to me yet, so yeah that would be great if you could take a look.

Yeah, that's what I need!!!

Thanks again PM sent.
