hey guys, will the factory tow hooks off of a 70's k5 fit an 80's k5?

tow hook, 70s same as 80s?

Yeah they will fit, but the mounting holes on the frames are different. So you'll more than likely have to redrill some holes.
just in case anyone is wondering:
the other way doesnt work (80s hooks on a 70s frame) you would have to drill at bad spots, weaken the frame, then when you go to pull with them you would just rip em off the frame

fyi for the 88-up style thay can be had new with both hooks and plates and 4 bolts from the dealer for about 25 bucks and thay mount flat.

Tow Hookd for an '87 K5

I'd like to know who the dealer is that's selling OEM tow hooks for $25 !
I went to a local GM dealer last week and they looked up all of the part numbers for me:
14055781 Left Hook (1 req) $61.20
14055782 Right Hook (1 req) $61.20
15985602 Threaded nut backing plate (2 req) $ ?
24504522 Bolts (4 req) $1 ea.
Now! one of the other parts guys was sharp enough to look it up ans an accessory 'kit' the included everything for $68. I'm confused as to how they're supposed to look (verticle or flat or twisted). Also, where do they bolt to? I looked and I don't see any 'extra' holes in my frame.

Hey! I just noticed you're from Horseheads, NY. I was born & raised in Elmira. Lived on the Southside next to Dunn Field then moved out to Webbs Mills in '61 untill I move to Florida in '67. My sister still lives in Horseheads off of the Sing Sing road.

cool buddy now i dont fell alone hear. you wont remember the area with all the changees. big flats is now the big hub of the area and elmira is dead execpt for houses for the most part a few bissness. and its the local gm deal elm chevy. if you want aset i can get them for ya. and that price might be for my biss discount for the place i work. as i always have my work shirt on when in there and pay cash.
