We rode the Amtrak from Union Station in Denver to Grand Junction to visit the family in western Colorado. We left Saturday, Dec 30, after all the snow over the past week and a half. The snow made the climb out of Denver like a post card. Few more from the inside of the observation car The snow doesn't stop the train, which is good. The down side is two-fold. The snow does slow it down. The other problem is that Amtrak doesn't own its own track; it's using UP and BNSF track so they are at their mercy. The weather had the freight trains running behind, which put their priority way ahead of ours. The return trip should be better now that we know what is going on. It was a little confusing at first because you don't get assigned seating. We had some difficulty figuring out where to sit. The food wasn't bad at all, a little pricey of course. The biggest saving grace is lots of leg room. The seats even have foot rests. The return home should be much more enjoyable. We'll see if we get more good pics.
