Just installed my freshly rebuilt 454/th400 back in my 87 Suburban and ran into a problem with the Trans dipstick tube.
Couldnt get the tranny in with it in place, or so it seemed... and now I cant get it back in at all. There is a tab that goes onto the trans and then the tube comes up between the fiewall and RH cylinder head.
No matter what I have tried I cant get it to go in..
Anyone had experience or advice?

I just went out and looked at my 84 sub and it looks like the tube could be dropped in next to the engine and then slid over behind head. The mounting tab on mine is on a bellhousing bolt. I know some others I've done in the past seemed like I had to get the truck up high enough to slide tube up from the bottom and then tuck it into the trans. Are your body mounts squashed maybe? That' all I got, good luck.

I just turned the tube around and around til i got it to go in. I didn't end up puttin the bolt back in but it still worked. Make sure it can't come out though or you'll have a mess on your hands
