Tranny problems on my 82 700R4

I have an 82 Blazer 305, with a 700R4 plenty of goodies, the problem I am currently having is that All of my gears are drive. reverse through first. The linkage going into the tranny is still good and working, it must be internal..any ideas?? thank you very much.

Iv had that problem,
the 1,2,clutch paks are burned up
had to have it rebuild,

well my dad's truck had the linkage messed up..it was of..and reverse was like to notches down and all that wierd stuff...you had to play around with it a little..he just adjusted it and got it back to its normall positions..could that be it? cuase i know sometimes the linklage gets of after a while..hes got a 400 though..
