Tranny is an sm465, hydro set-up, with the plastic throw-out bearing and correct fork.

Cruising there is a rattle, if i rest my foot on the pedal, it will go away.

When I push the clutch pedal in the rattle is worse, and with the trans in neutral it still does it. If i push the shift lever towards 3rd or 4th the noise goes away completely.

I did notice today that with the engine idleing the fork will bounce up and down...If I pump the clutch pedal it goes back to normal.

I'm mostly convinced the crappy plastic bearing is broke.
Anybody agree?

If it is the bearing, how can I get away with using a metal bearing like the mechanical used. Are they the same OD, and will slip into the fork correct?

If not, what is the proper solution so the next one wont break in another month?

The correct way to install the bearings is to have the back thin collar clipped into the fork and spring tabs correct? With the bar, of indent in betweent the two spring tabs?

Sorry for the long post, chris

Pretty certain mine is all metal.

Of course, it's failing, I can hear it growling at me when the trans is in neutral with the clutch out. It's actually probably only got 5 years of use on it. Looks like the slave cylinder is starting to fail as well, saw a drip on it last time I was under the truck, and I *KNOW* that's 5 years new. :(

May need to do our part to prop GM up and see if they have the parts in stock.

ive never seena plastic one.with the heavyness of our trucks and the use they get it would be safe to say that is what sounds like it broke.the shift fork should just sit in betweent the 2 sides of the fork to hold it in place on the shaft.i would replace with a metal one.
