Had a friend who replaced a automatic tranny in a '94 3/4 ton 4x4 GMC,and the old tranny was headed for the core pile,so I asked if I could have the adapter on it that goes between the transfer case and tranny,as the replacement tranny came with one and he found it easier to just pop the whole shebang in..

My question is what do I have?--I assume the tranny was a 4L60E or maybe a 4l80E ,as it resembled a 700r4,only it has electrical plugs instead of a TV cable--4 bolts held the adapter to the tranny, the other end has 6 bolts (I think, didn't really count them)..the truck had a drivers side drop T-case,I am not familiar with the newer trucks at all really, not sure what this one would have had factory...I'm just wondering what else this adapter might work on,or bolt too--looks like it would bolt to a TH350 to me?...

th350 + 700r4 + 4l60 + 4l60e = 4 bolt tail housing. 27 spline tail shaft.

th400 + 4l80e = 6 bolt tail housing. 32 spline tail shaft.

Thanks!..it appears to be the one for a 700r4 / 4L60E ,it has 4 bolts to the tranny tail and 6 to the transfer case, which might have been a NP208 or 241??...I couldn't get any casting numbers off it,as it was very flaky and I had to chip away at it with a screwdriver to get all the thick crusty layers off of it...

(you should see the truck it came from--if the owner tries pushing any snowbanks back with it,the frame will crumble, its so rotted up front where the plow frame bolts on I would not be surprised if it folds over when you go to lift the plow!----guy would not have spent a dime to fix it,had he known it was THAT rotted!..said he "never looked under it" when he bought it a few weeks ago,and the seller siad it "had new brake lines"--yeah,maybe 3 years ago, even the replaced ones are growing barnacles!..)..my '82 K2500 looks mint underneath compared to his!..

I'm just trying to keep track of my "inventory"--I now have a NP205 with a TH350 adapter,a NP203 with a TH350 adapter (unknown condition,I pulled it as soon as I bought the truck it came in,it seemed to work OK but the chain skipped)--and I have a spare NP208/TH400 adapter for my '82...and now the adapter I scored the other day..

Saw an ad on CL for a TH350 tranny with the spacer ,that will replace a 700R4 for 125 bucks a few days ago, with a NP208 included..was wondering if I should get it for my Suburban..kind of want to keep it stock with the overdrive 700r4 though in a way..

up here in the rust belt i have seen lots of the 88-up ifs trucks now with severe frame rot in the boxed setion of the frame rails. if your gona buy one best check them out good first. and right behind the cab were the factory bracket for the truck box bolt down is welded to the frame thay rot out there and do the big death split also.
