While I had my 88 K5 tail housing off yesterday TRYING to put in speedo gears (more on that debacle later) I noticed that BOTH transmission mount bolts snapped (previous owner?). These are the two that insert from the bottom and thread into the feet on the tranny mount. I'd like to get a couple before I drop the cross member to ATTEMPT to ez-out the old ones (hint: beware of anything that has "EZ" in its name :haha:)

Does anyone know the length/size and thread pitch for these?

Yesterday's debacle:

Don't read unless you need a good laugh: :haha:
Started doing my income taxes at 6:30 this morning. Great - gonna owe 900+ bucks. OK, so I'll go accomplish something...I'll fix the K5....

First I pulled the tail housing to swap the drive gear. Noticed that the previous owner must have snapped off both transfer case-to-mount bolts in the transfer case ears. Darn project for later - pull the crossmember and ez-out the old bolts (beware of anything that has "EZ" in it's name)
Pulled the seal and drove out the bushing. Tried to install the new bushing and it fell thru the hole...a few thousandths too small. This is the exact part listed for the np208 in that truck at every parts store - National 5208. Seems I recall this happening a few years ago (others on ck5 forum have stated the same problem).

Fine - I thought I'll just get one from GM like before...but all the Chevy parts houses close at noon...outta luck. Ran around all day looking for parts and other business. I thought, well, I'll just put the speedo gears in, zip up the tail housing, and when the bushing and seal I ended up ordering come in I'll pop them in with the housing and gears in. Then I tried to fit the new speedo housing and IT didn't fit. My old housing measures ~1.940" diameter and has a longer reach than the one I ended up with (it measures ~2.08" dia)...15 tooth drive gear and 36 tooth driven gear is what I came up with to match my 3.73's and 31-32" tire size.

It's dark now and here's the truck sticking out of the garage, the wife's town car out in the rain, camping trip coming up next weekend, and the truck is down...on top of that I skipped an invitation to hog hunt this weekend so I could "accomplish" some things. I put it back together with no bushing or seal in the tail housing and left out the rear drive shaft. I haven't swapped front gears yet - didn't want to shred the trans case. I locked the front hubs, put her in 4Hi and limped down the driveway then back into it's normal resting place so I could put her car to bed. Oh, and every time I had to go somewhere today, I had to wash up and change clothes since the wife's town car has a lovely cream interior.

Hopefully, all the new parts I now have ordered will get here in time to get her back together so I can make the weekend camping trip...
