MY transmission is about to get rebuild and I want to upgrade it to make it more durable and shift quicker. What are some parts that I could add to make it shift better. So far im thinking of putting red clutches, corvette servo, and a steel band. Anything else I should consider slapping on? If you have added any of these things to your 700r4 I will appreciate some feedback on how it went. GOOD OR BAD. (limited slip 4.56 gears on both diffs if that matters)

Suggest you search online for "Raptor 700R4". These guys have gone as deep into the 700R4 as anyone. At the least, you'll get some good ideas and professional opinions.

Lets see if i can remember what i had installed on mine a few years back... Well I remember covette servo, hardened sprag, kevlar bands, upgraded heavy duty sunshell, shift kit lvl2, upgraded pump, and of corse some heavy duty clutches. that i had done by an old guy in the city here who is recommended by the gm dealers here whos a bit older but man does he know what hes doin i was truely impressed as well as Russell with how it drives. nice and firm :D

I used the specs from Bowtie Overdrive and had my K-case 700R4 built to their Level 3 specs by a local reputable shop (http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/). I also spent a bunch of time on the phone with them talking about the various upgrades. They are pretty knowledgable.

none

The beast drive shell , red alto or raybestos clutches. get the thin ones and try to squeaze in 9 or so into the 3-4 clutch pack for more lug proof on the highway, corvette servos are over rated, a servo from a 4.3 equipped 700r will be just as well. extra wide kevlar band. 5 pinion planets from a late model 4l65E are great strength adders, dont buy into a B&M shift kit they are junk, we use superior brand shift kits, . for a little extra stall one could order a torque conver for a 4.3l. D&P racing makes kick ass converters. budget priced, located out of sacramento california. Good Luck.

what year is your trans? You'll be better off starting with a 87 or newer. they are redesigned and upgraded, specically 4th gear. you cannot put those components in a pre 87, the case is different.

pre 87 ...And some even some of the eariler 87 cases were the weaker design. They can not be fixed. To be sure 88 and up is the best design . by 88 all the weakness in the 7000 were fixed.
They are the best cases to rebuild. eariler cases even with HD parts are still prone to failure

The best upgrade for a 700 is a 465:D

No seriously though, Bowtie OD's has the best reputation around here. I personnaly havent talked with them, but many on this forum have and almost all had good things to say about service and product.

Myself, I gave up on the 700 after I killed two in one year in my Burb and the one in my wife's Burb was starting to have serious issues with leaking and too little pressure and too much heat. And that was day to day driving and very light towing on very rare occasions.

Hindsight though, I think my stock coolers were junked and just recently realized I might have had issues with one of my vent tubes. But now I dont worry 'bout it, got my 465's:waytogo:

Go to a 4l80e... I have one, already opened up to inspect before you purchase.

seriously though.. I like local shops. Bowtie overdrive may be a great trans " I have even used one in a project" but if **** hits the fan.. having a local builder is much nicer.
