Tread Wright tires or Comming soon Retreads Test

*(clears throat) and this is the first we are hearing about them!

Yep I ran a set of there 35's back in 2004, a 35-12.50-16.5 ( which they don't offer anymore) I went through 5 tires trying to get them to balance and had 3 tires loose sections of the tread .

All warrantied of course, but after awhile the price of mounting and balancing was adding up along with my truck being down while I waited. I ended up selling them for 400.00 on the wheels and picked up some hummer 36's on white spokes . for 175.00 at least those would sort of take balance.

I will say this, there customer service was really good actually better then good they tried there best to make me happy. I eventually just got frustrated and sold the them once I had 4 "good" tires. I never asked for a refund or anything like that. and I can't tell you how the tires performed after I sold them as the kid I sold them too put them on a Ranch truck thats never seen highway use

I bought a set in 2006 for my ex's little SUV and had one fall apart on the freeway after 400 miles of driving over a weekend. Not impressive.

Got HORRIBLE customer service. Lots of waiting, missed promised deadlines, and misleading phone calls.

A year later two had separating tread at the sidewall and when I complained they basically told me I was SOL if I wanted the tires I already had. I finally just figured I'd replace them after that winter and a month later my ex rolled the vehicle. I left the tires on it.

That was when they were still High Tec Retreads and I've heard they went through a bad period then. Haven't dealt with them since then but I just haven't been able to justify their tires due to the cost of having them shipped and mounted locally. What seems like a several hundred dollar savings ends up becoming less than a $100 savings compared to a locally purchased non-big name new set of tires. I went with the non-big name tires and don't regret it.

That said, I hope these tires are a great product and work well for you.

Treadwright Retreads

I have 2 sets of their tires and couldn't be happier! I'll be ordering more tires from them, excellent product and customer service.
One set of 315/70R17 Guard Dog MT's on my M1008 pickup, mainly gravel and dirt roads, and offroad around the farm. 1 1/2 years and 5,000 miles so far, with no signs of excessive wear.
Another set of four 227/70R19.5 Crawlers to single out my dually Ford F550 4x4 for winter use, mainly gravel and dirt roads, and offroad around the farm. 3 winters and about 5,000 miles. These have the Kedge Grip and wear seems to be fairly rapid, which they told me it could be, especially with such a heavy (10,500 lbs empty) medium duty truck. I would only recommend the Kedge Grip for seasonal winter time highway tires.
Used balancing beads, so they didn't require weights.
Know several others with Treadwright tires who are happy, but also know people who had problems when they were Hi Tec. All of these were on farm/ranch pickups.

I just went through the problems a month ago.

Two of the tires were visibly out of round. Balance all you want and it wont help. One took serious weight to be even usable and one too serious to balance correct.

They sent new ones after 3 requests for rebalancing and I refused to do a 4th.

That's enough info for me to avoid them. I did email them when this thread first popped up and offered to do a review of them but that would be the only way I would run these..if they are free

:what: Nice no wonder they are dragging their feet now to get back with me! Thanks

ive had a set of there 37's on my k5 for nearly a year and im pretty happy with them.

Maybe first YOU have hears about them. :-)

These are nothing new. Been around for years.

I was referring to his having them for a year. A review would of been nice. No where could I find any reviews on them just some comments like "I would never run a retread" or "I would have to see a set first".

Guys we need to get more reviews out on the stuff we buy. Some of us have limited funds so we need that kind of info to help us.

Just like the review I wrote on the full face radio in to the old style hole on an 1987.

HA I have had this happen with a set of brand new tires.

It happens. I personally know 6 folks who have ran these on several rigs. They work are way cheaper and last just as long.

Looking forward to the overall review

I was looking forward to it too but it might of been fracked up by a second person from CK5 wanting to do a review too. They may just say no. The woman who I had contact with is not returning my emails or phone call.

I was hoping to have a good truck to take to Blazer Bash 2012. I will not post any more news until I have sealed deals and have products in hand. I did a rainx latitude wiper review and update to be a good item for the cost. But from now on I think I will take a GM stance. It is all black ops from now on.

I am looking for my prior contacts from 2006 so I can have a back up plan.

Are you saying you got in touch with them for a review on their tires AFTER you read this thread?

I didnt even think to do a review when i got them :doah:. They took a bit of wieght to balance, and ive lost a few of those wieghts and they still ride fine on the highway, i have the 37x12.5x16.5 guard dogs on the wrangler m/t carcass. Due to the military tire side wall, they do ride rough, and are heavy. That being said i still have no regrets buying them, $144 a tire is not to bad for a set of 37's. the tread is a bit closer than the old goodyear mtr, which is what it looks like they were going for. They hook up good and the tread has stayed on and i havent experinced any chunking of the rubber. I drive my truck from the bottom of oregon to the top of washington every couple months and hit the back roads and trails every couple of days, no problems so far. All in all no regrets.

I was looking forward to seeing how they did. We ran retreads on our wheel loaders and trucks. Never had any problems with them. The company seemed nice when they were talking to me. I told them I belonged to ColoradoK5.com and what type of group we were.

Also I told her about the other reviews I had done and it was all good. Now I feel like they don't want to go ahead with it. Not sure what happened???????????????

Are you saying you got in touch with them for a review on their tires AFTER you read this thread?

No, not after. It was 1-2 weeks before this was posted. It was close to when he posted this though. I did find that odd timing. After I bought my 1 ton axles I started looking at tires. I found the link to treadwright on how to get picked to review their tires on a Jeep forum.
If it's any consolation, I haven't heard anything back from them wither. I used their web page to send in and I'm not even sure it went through

if you got to do the review, fingers crossed for you,id go with the load e range tire.it should have a extra sidewall and tread cap layer so it would be less prone to ripping and sidewall cuts offroad.t would also have less sway on road, but aired down would not conform to rocks as good.

I have a set of there tires on my M1009 CUCV and I am very happy with the tires and the service. I will also be buying more tires from them for my M1028 and my 2004 Duramax. Maybe I should buy the tires and do a little review of my own.

I had good luck with a set of 31x10.5x15's on my Suburban, and I know a bunch of people who have ran them with no complaints.
