I did a vin search on the cab I got. I was having some problems at first, when I was using a regular decoder, from LMC trucks, and it was going good, for the first to characters, but the there wasn`t anything for the third character, which is D. So I used the decoder on slosh, and this is what I got:

(BTW, what is different from a 350 V8 HD, as opposed to a regular 350?)

I cant give you much other info except the HD 350 is a 4 bolt main engine. The third digit (D) identifies the vehicle ie: Pickup, car, ect
Heres what I came up with.DECODED1982 GMC C3500CountryUNITED STATESMakeGMCVehicle TypePickup TruckGVWR ClassClass H: 9,001-10,000 lbModelC3500Body Type2 Door Cab; RegularEngine TypeV8, 5.7L (350 CID)Check Digit5Model Year1982Assy. I should know, as I wrote that decoder... but I can't remember where the info came from. Prolly the GM manual, so I'm gonna suspect that what it means it's a 4BBL with "heavy duty" emissions, i.e. a higher GVWR meant they could get away without an AIR pump or something.

It's probably a good thing w.r.t. smog checks; if you don't have those, prolly doesn't mean squat.

Well, I finally went out and got some numbers off that motor.

Here`s what I`ve got so far:

V0810TFX - Made in Flint, MI, August 10th

Engine Suffix Code from NastyZ28.com
TFX 1982 350 con, fd, van, bus cab M LT9 - 4 C-20 to 3500

Engine Casting Numbers from NastyZ28.com
1980-85 14010207 350 - - 4 truck

I`m still looking for the horsepower ratings. And I want to get the head casting numbers...

Also found this, I`ve yet to find out what the HD means, other than 4B main: LT9 : ENGINE, GAS, 8 CYL, 5.7L, 4BBL, HD

HD likely refers to heavy duty emissions. Especially considering what that motor was installed in initially.

Ran across "HD" while browsing my '91 R/V/P Service Manuals last night, that year at least it was definitely a reference to Heavy Duty emissions.
