Last night i blow my heater hose and sprayed antifreeze everywhere. i washed it all off and blew out the cap and plug wires but it still wont idle. any suggestions would be helpfull right now

A few more details will be helpful.

Was the hose fragile and old? It could be a blown head gasket that pressured up the cooling system and the hose let go from the added pressure and temp.

A compression test will tell you if you do have a problem or not.

I hate to be so dramatic and pessimistic but without more details this is a place to start.

thats my bad but its 350 in a 1985 gmc i know it aint a blown head gasket cuz i drove it back home and the temp never went up. im thinkin its a vaccum leak

Could be a vacuum leak. Obviously if it wouldn't idle after the hose breaking but before it was fine then something has had to change.

it idle perfectly before the hose blew and i replaced all vaccum lines on the carb and it still wont idle but i think the carb might be bad and it drives fine when i get at highway speeds also what is the round thing beside the distributor that it connected to the carb, could that go bad

The "round thing" attatched to the distributer is the vacuum advance.

I suggest that you get some photo's on this thread so we can help describe and diagnose this with you.

Is there a chance that you moved or rotated the distributor when you made whatever repairs after the hose broke?

i know the vaccum advance but on the driver side of the motor, i think it has to do with the choke maybe but im not for sure. and the distributor i dont see how it could move, i couldnt turn it with my hand

If it won't idle it may be a vacuum leak. Check carefully around the engine for any vacuum lines which may have become disconnected, or maybe are routed wrong, and for any block-off caps on the carb which may have cracked.

Do you have an PCV valve on the valve covers? Check to be sure that is all in order too.

i have checked for any vacuum lines and found none. but i think i found the problem, the RFI condenser wires were showing.

right now im trying to change my heater core and i dont know want nuts to take off, and my A/C doesnt work so i was wondering if i could change the heater core from inside the engine bay.

i finally found what the problem was, it turns out that i bent a pushrod. so tomarrow i get to pull the head off and see what more damage i did. YEE HAW
