Folks

My 95 yukon wont shut off. I have to pull the ignition fuse to shut it down. Turning the key off and removing it does nothing. After the fuse is pulled the dash lights stay on. I have to remove the battery leads to completely shut her down. WTF?

I am going to replace it tomorrow when the new one comes in. This started yeaterday after a new motor was installed. Its resulting in the trans being stuck in 3 gear. Its a 4l60E so I have been drinving in one gear.

bad ignition switch probably.

If it was working fine before the engine install, and started to not shut off as soon as you cranked the new engine, then it might still be a bad switch, but odds are a wire got hooked up wrong, or shorted somehow during the swap.

Check your wiring harness closely. Especially where it interacts with the engine.
There are a lot of wires that run close to the engine, and some of them could have gotten caught and pinched together.

On the other hand, you are just never satisfied. First you gripe because it won't crank, then when you get it running, you gripe because it won't turn off.......:D

LOL:D

I just changed the ignition switch and lock cyclinder and it still runs. It wont turn off.

Damn that was my guess....ok why not do this turn the swith off and see if the electrical stuff shuts off if it does why not put an inline switch on the dizzy for the time being..if it doesnt work i would take the whole column apart and check.

Try showing it some pictures of Priuses and other hybrids, those are big turnoffs to late 90's Tahoes:D

Sorry, couldn't resist:haha:

While pouring over the engine bay, I noticed a conecter on the fire wall that was always left disconnected. It was now connected and was done by the shop that swapped in the new motor. I disconnected it an presto, problem solved. Now I'm dealing with some issues caused by the short I was having. The IAC and Spark Control modules are damaged. I have codes 35 and 43 now.
