Trying to get the pitman arm off

It's 4x4 and I have the 3 nuts removed, I've been trying to hit I with a hammer but still hasn't came off yet

Pitman arm connects to the steering box. Sounds like you're talking about the steering arm. There are cone washers that are under the nuts that are forced into the holes in the steering arm. The best way to remove the arm is to hit the end of it with a BFH. If it doesn't pop up then you either aren't hitting it hard enough or your hammer isn't large enough.

Ok cool I'll try that Tommorow, that's what it is, the tie rod is connected to it as well, I have a mini sledge hammer I'm hitting it with

Soaking the studs with PB Blaster or the like will help. Also spray around where the arm connects to the knuckle. I used an 8 lb. sledge. Two whacks and it was loose. Then you pull out the cone washers and the arm is free to come off. But being from CA I didn't have to deal with rust, yours might be a little more stubborn.

as said that's steering arm .

and its not the tie rod . its the drag link for the link from pitman to steering arm.

Went through this a few months ago, tried several rounds of PB with the BFH and it would not budge. After 8-10 minutes with the propane torch it popped loose all by itself.

I got one stubborn steering arm loose by jacking up on it some (not all the way off the ground)-with a bottle jack, then whacking it with a BFH..the weight if the truck on it made it come free of the studs,I left the nuts on a few threads ..I whaled on it for 10 minutes with no results till I used the jack to put pressure on it..

Yep. I usually soak them with PB or whatever, heat if possible, and then beat them every which way you can think of. Doesnt need to be beat straight up from the bottom either. It takes a BIG hammer and wacking every which way.

Big hammer and put a picture of your ex that you hate. It will come off real quick.

Sometimes I have better luck getting things apart with a rubber mallet.

I don't know if this is true scientifically, but I have found the rubber mallet can send some better vibrations through the metal. I have definitely used one to take my pitman arm and steering arm off, but both were recent installs. I have never had the luxury of taking off an old crusty one. It seemed to me to be the right tool to ring those little spacers out.
