I owed a friend a few favors and I want somebody that can keep up with me when the buggy is done, so we pulled his 'Yota into my garage and went to town. We still have to mount the toolbox, aluminum diamondplate panels, and the spare tire. The open space at the front of the bed is for the toolbox.

The rear crossmember has 4 oval LED lights in it as well as a receiver hitch. 2 red for stop/turn/tail, 2 clear for backup lights. The rear crossmember was made by Kert at DIY4X (http://www.diy4x.com). I'll post more pics when it's painted and finished.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, the hoop was bent large on purpose because it'll get an exo when we've got time. I'm hoping when he gets a tow rig and trailer of his own he'll let me cut the body out from under the exo and he'll have a customized f-toy. :D

If you want storage space, this isn't the way to go. He'll barely have any room after the spare 35 and toolbox are in there. On the bright side, we figured out he could lower the truck 4" and fit 40's.

Grand total, prolly 10 hours or so from complete truck with a bed to what you see now. As with everything I build, we changed the design at least a dozen times during the process. I'm testing a new bending setup so that took some time to set up and dial in as well.

that was my question...how did you do the bending? Do you have a bender in the shop or did you just torch them and pull?

Bender, if my friend brings his digicam today I'll post a video in the shop section tonight. It's an awesome setup.

As for the truggy, I'm getting there. I'm gonna try and do 90% of the rear tubework today and tomorrow and get the links figured out after that. Now my friend owes me so he'll be my notching bitch. :haha:

When should I expect the first Royalty check to come in

How about as soon as you make me the tabs to mount the aluminum panels. :p:

I'm sending you a bill instead of a check. What a pain in the ass.

Tubes will be painted black when we tear it down again.

Goofy ass hitch is temporary. He's gotta get collector plates to get away from bumper height laws.

Noone ever said, copying someone elses truck would be easy
