My girlfriends little brother has a Toyota Tacoma with a 4cyl and it was having trouble getting past 40 mph. I drove it and it ran fine just has no go, i know its a little 4 banger but it should be a lot quicker. Anyway her mom took it to a shop in Austin and they said she needed a major tune-up. Plugs were bad and cap had pits in it blah blah. Well they told her it would be $500!!!!! said it was 4hrs labor. Never done anything with Toyotas so i dont know, by buddy had a Lexus and i would change his oil at the shop and it was a pain in the arse. Does this sound reasonable???? I told her if all hes doing is changing plugs and wires and a cap ill be happy to drive down there from Dallas and change it all myself. Anyone have opinion????

Already posted in Lounge but upon further advice re-posted here:crazy:

Should be an easy job on a 4 cyl Tacoma. Plenty of room to get to everything. Be sure to change the fuel filter too. Prolly the reason it has no power.
Put in a new air filter, Do an oil change.
Dump a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment and fill the tank with preimimum to clean the fuel system. Have the kid help you maby he will learn something.

X2 on the plugs/cap and filters, change all the fluids while you are doing it.
