What is the ideal size for exhaust on a built 6.2l turbo. It will have a banks turbo for now. I plan on having the exhaust done at a local shop. I am thinking of going straight pipe.

I need;

crossover size?

down-pipe size?

and down-pipe back size (I was thinking 3.5")?

I ran a 3" straight pipe with a 2" crossover on my truck, and all seems to be good with it. Turbo spools quick, and the engine seems to have no complaints with pulling the truck around

I built a 3" down pipe....4" exhaust that comes out before the passenger side tire....sound decent when I get on it....but if I had to do it again I would go 3" all the way back...just sounded too hollow...no a lot of pop/cracklin' for me...my crossover was stock size....the length of the 3" downpipe was about 12"...just long enough to clear the shock mount.

i got the stock banks crossover, wanted to put 31/2 pipe was too tight inbetween frame and transmission,had too go with 3inch and made a dent in it by the front spring shackel,it would touch under load.

I run 3" straight pipe all the way back form the turbo and exit behind the passenger-rear tire. It sounds good and performs well without being obnoxious. Going larger than that won't gain you much and routing in the downpipe area becomes a royal PITA.

I actually ran the truck for a few weeks without anything after the downpipe (which is about 2 feet long) while I was figuring things out. Once I got the rest of the pipe on, there was no appreciable difference in acceleration or EGT - it just stopped me having to insert earplugs ;)

Crossover is stock Banks on mine (2" I believe). It works just fine - go too big and you won't spool well.
