Thinking about getting these twin turbo headers, and all the hot parts on this kit. I won't be using their turbos and will be doing Borg Warner S366 turbos instead. Too keep it simple, I'm not doing the twin FMIC option and will probably be running the wastegates straight down by the harmonic balance. Kit is originally designed for a 63-67 Chevelle.

Was wanting to get everyone's opinion if this will fit a K5 (1987). Mostly worried about the frame clearance on the downpipe running to the bottom where you connect the exhaust.

sexiest damn thing I've seen all day!!

There was a twin turbo guy on pirate, trying to remember the name...

I'm sure all the guys driving twin-turbo K5s will be rushing in here with BTDT advice at any moment!!!

:haha:

I realize there's not many here that do this but looking for any input on something it may hit before I put my money down. I hate the unknown factor but I guess there's only one way to find out... This was the most complete kit I found that doesn't require much fabrication and the price isn't bad either

Let me know if you remember the names. There's so many ways to do this just want to make sure it's going the right direction with the correct hot parts

I know Chevelle headers fit a friends K5 well, but that doesn't mean that kit will--"Maybe" ?..only one way to find out...:sneaky:..

Before you spend a ton of money on the Borg turbos, maybe think about using what comes in the kit and see if you like them. I'm considering a twin turbo 6.0 LS swap in my old Skylark, so I've been lurking on LS1tech.com. Lots of those guys are using those exact turbos and making STUPID amounts of power, reliably. One guy had been running a $1500 Precision turbo and kept blowing it up. He would send it back to Precision and they would rebuild it for $500. So he decided to buy a $300 CKO (Chinese Knock Off) turbo of a similar size. He's had it on there for like 2 or 3 years no with no trouble and makes the same power. CKO turbos have come a long way. I've read horror stories about CKO turbos being epoxied together and all kinds of stuff. Some of those stories are probably exaggerated, some are probably true. But almost all of those horror stories are from a long time ago and people perpetuate it even though it isn't the case anymore.
Just food for thought. You might be really impressed by the CKOs and save a pile of money. Unless you picked S366's because they are what works best for your intended purpose. In that case, enjoy your build and we're all gonna need some pics.

I can't find a build thread but this is the guy, here is a post he made with lots of videos.

Thanks. Looked it up and saw the videos. No build thread though. I wonder why he removed it. Bad ass truck!

Not really stuck on the Borgs and the s366 may be too big. I don't care much for the China made turbos and their lifespan usually sucks. Not worth it when you're on the trail and have one fail. I'll have to dig into the CXRACING line of turbos and see if they are any decent. I just assumed they were shit. I do agree about Precision and their problems. Appreciate your input! Do you happen to that link to the CKO turbo n ls1tech?

Just by looking at the video of the kit, I think it would clear the frame. BUT, front driveshaft may be an issue..??

Yeah probably. I can deal with that when I have custom dual 3" syainless exhaust done

One of the guys on there goes by Wicked69. He is the one I mentioned with the Precision turbos that kept giving him trouble. He drives his car 300 miles/week and drag races it on the weekends. Another guy to search is Hexenlord. Both those guys are running On3 turbos, which are pretty much the same thing as CXRacing.

Good to know. I'm also looking at the Magnum line of turbos too. Thanks for the info.
