rigth when the engine turns over it starts a knocking for about 2 seconds. what could it be??????
THAT WOULD BE WHAT CHEVY DO. CRANK IT AND IT KNOCKS ABOUT 3 TIMES AND GOES AWAY. MY 94 SUB. DOES THAT I EVEN PUT A CRANK ,BRGS. AND HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP IN IT. STILL IT KNOCKS ON COLD START UP. I ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD THE CPU COULD BE PROGRAMED TO ADD A LONGER CRANK TIME TO BUILD OIL PRESSURE. THE STRANGE THING IS, MY K5 HAS THE SAME MOTOR AND DOES NOT DO THAT. GO FIGURE
It could be a Fram oil filter under the hood./forums/images/icons/wink.gif It could also mean that your oil is old and dirty and needs to be changed out.....
It could also be a sign that you are low on oil.
What kind of oil are you using? Sometimes thick oil will cause a little bit of knocking on start up when its cold enough. Also, sometimes people get problems with anti-drain back valves in their oil filters. You might want to switch oil filter brands next time you cange your oil. Read this, it might help. http://www.dorianyeager.com/oilfilterstudy1.html
I HAVE USED 10W/30 AND 20/50.
AC DELCO FILTERS
It’s got a K&N Oil Filter and Vavoline synthetic blend and I’m due for an oil change
