twin turbo k5

save your pennies or give up on any of the ideas I would say. None of it will come "cheap". I could get you Duramaxes all day long for like $8k. But thats $8k and no trans.

I remember reading about that blazer a couple of years ago. Its a CUCV from Germany a guy in holland bought from the army at an auction. Its a twin turbo built from parts scavenged from Volvo construction equipment. The builder worked for the Volvo dealer so he had access to parts;). It seems he used smaller turbos for the twin setup, well thats how I remember it anyway. Thought the build details were on www.thedieselpage.com but don't remember where.

That's the same guy they were talking about earlier in the thread with the CUCV. He did manage to do the conversion without a major cash outlay. It should be noted that he also reduced his compression to 19:1 and ran into fuel limitations from the DB2 pump.

The only really high-horse 6.2 I have seen is the one in that Massey-Ferguson tractor. He uses two DB2 pumps and spins the motor up to 5500RPM to make around 500HP. This is different from the method used on most diesels, mainly because most others are DI diesels and can't sustain any decent torque output at that RPM. Not to mention many, such as the Cummins 6BT, will hatch above 4000RPM or so. However, the 6.2/6.5's can't tolerate the cylinder pressures that a Cummins can to produce huge torque numbers, so in order to get big HP you generate moderate cylinder pressures and torque and spin the snot out of it to make the HP, much like a gasser :D It sure sounds good at 5500 :saweet:

Here's a vid clip of it: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1641713166467266832
