voltage regulator???

    i think my voltage regulator is shot but im not sure. the other night i was driving on the highway and my lights got bright both exterior and dash and my radio went out. it happens randemely and later i noticed that my volt meter was peged high. also i was wondering where the voltage regulator is. any help is appreciated

    Hey Eric, yep, sure sounds like a bad voltage regulator to me. Your k5 uses an internal regulator so you need to replace the whole alternator. As you know, the alternator puts out many volts but the regulator is what " regulates" how much goes to the battery.
