Currently running bfg baja ta military 37s. They are getting worn and not the best. Would like something a tad bigger but not 40s. Was thinking 38s. I can find the patagonias in a 38x13.50x17 what else is there in a radial mudterrain? Anyone running these? Also important is needs to be 17" wheel. Seems like everyone is 37s or 40s and up.

My 37" Baja's were pretty true to size. The early Military OZ were definitely smaller.

I really like the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T and they are available in a 38 and 40 for 17's. If my fenders weren't cut out so big I'd probably be running these in a 42. They are expensive though.

I am running a set of Toyo Open Country M/T 385/75/16 on my truck. The 385/70/16 comes to a 38" tire. The only reason I still run 16" rims is because I bought the rims on this truck over 20-years ago when there was no 8-lug rim manufactured over 16" yet. These tires handle real well on the road, and do not wear out as fast as some off road tires. They have a speed rating of up to 90 MPH so you can safely run down the Interstate at speed.

Toyo MT in the metric size stated above.
Nitto trail grappler, Patagonia mt, and Goodyear MTR all have a 38”
There are also 2 39” tires on the market from bfg and katani

Swamper SSR is available in 38x15.5x17, but if you're used to 12.5" widths there's a huge difference in tire clearance (and weight). I have the 38x15.5 Radial TSL and they are way bigger than the 37x12.5 tires I had previously.

If you go to 39.5" swampers, those are bigger than the radial 40's mentioned above.

I think 13.50 is as wide as I would go.

I had recapped humvee 37's and went to a 37 13.5 toyo and really liked them. The 14.5 mt/r definently gives it different road manners, and made me cut fender to clear the width.
I'm on 4 inch ez rides with a 1/4 inch plate moving the axle forward an inch and a 60f so around 5 inches over stock half ton.

Cool thanks. I just measured my bfgs and with 30psi they are about 35.25 tall with a level as a straightedge. I think last time I measured off the truck so they are alittle shorter than I thought.
