I have a 7K GVW 16' + 2' dovetail made with c-channel frame instead of angle. Pressure treated deck. Dry weight is 1600 lbs. So this means I can put 5400 lbs. on it.

Here's a write-up about a home-made angle-iron trailer with wood deck. It ended up weighing about 2000 pounds. I would say you're looking at 1900-2000 minimum if you go with one that's "lightly" built.

Here's a pic of my trailer, about 14-foot flat with 2-foot dove? Made from some 4-inch channel - built pretty heavy. Full steel deck. Just weighed it this past weekend. A little over 2600 pounds with a 8000 pound winch on the front. It has a pair of 3500 pound axles under it with brakes on one. I need to upgrade to higher capacity axles!

sweetk30 - do you have any pics of how your winch mount hooks to the front of your trailer? It looks like it's removeable. Mine is just bolted to the deck, and want to come up with a good way to make a removable mount.

whell i welded the up rights to the header. but just need to pop a few welds and the rest will come off. havent finished it yet. when done there will be 4 bbolts on top 2 per side and 2 bolts threw the bottom section.
