We’ve been getting trace smoke East of the Continental divide for weeks from some fires. With the temp scheduled to blip triple digits for 5 days straight, they are making red flag warning for fire danger

This was the last race we were at. Finish line was moved 3 times and race was shortened due to the fires. We almost called off helping due to the fire below us. The night photos are hard to process the size because of the distance, 30-40 flames and camera zoomed in. That was below our check 10-15 miles.

Utah has had 644 fire starts this year so far. Last year at this time was like 221. My sister in law works for the forest service with the fire management side of things and said they are predicting a bad year for us in Utah due to hotter and drier than normal and also I'm assuming the amount of fuel in the mtns. So far nothing by us but I think a big one is coming.

I don't remember how many times and days we were under red flag conditions. This year's weather has been nasty as far as dry and wind amount. Supposed to be triple digit temperatures here too. Humidity is 7% now. I saw 4% yesterday.

    It's 90 degrees here with over 70% humidity...no need for a sauna !.

No fires here so far--but its been dry enough in my area to get one started easily..surprised no fireworks started one yet!..
Some areas of MA got some severe thunderstorms with street flooding so not all of the state is dry,but its near drought conditions here now..

We’ve been seeing lots of red flag warnings and camp fire restrictions were in effect much earlier (late May).

    41% 92 degrees.
So not a full sauna like normal.

I'm 92 degrees and feels like 96 with 4% humidity! We are supposed to be upper 90s to low 100s for at least the next week. That's hotter than normal for us. I bet we have a fire anytime soon.

    Now 6%
Running the water truck around here is close to a full time job when the mixers are running hard. Dust everywhere!

He’s probably bragging. I mean it’s almost twice that on the wet side of the mountain

Normal summer avg is around 68% in the Midwest.

Having lived in the dry heat and wet heat. When it's 95 degrees it's HOT no matter what!

This mess started a couple of days ago south of the Royal Gorge bridge. Almost 300 acres and 40% containment. Been watching from the west side of the shop.

I know it’s serious and I’m not making light, but seeing the picture over the BK sign, first thing I thought of was the “Flame Grilled” Whopper.

Four miles to the southwest of Canon. It's pretty steep rugged terrain.

True. Problem is when the wind is right all we smell is Whoppers burning.

The wind helped. But it was pretty hazy yesterday on the way in. Wasn't as bad today. I think they had 40% containment too.

Got the old ticker pumping pretty good yesterday. Had a partial power outage - some things sort of worked, some didn't. Thought I had a power surge that destroyed a bunch of stuff. Checked the poll by the house to see if it was ok like I always do in an outage. Yep, wind didn't knock any trees down and no sparks. Checked the voltages of the main lines coming into the service box. One line was dead the other at half what it should be. That's odd, never had an outage like that. Guess one of the lines got knocked down. Head downstairs to flip the main line off and see smoke down in the canyon about 1/2 mile away. AHH CRAP!! Of course my phone doesn't work since it goes through WiFi and my router doesn't work. Go to my neighbor who of course is high as a kite. :smokin2: Call my friend who is on the local volunteer fire dept. His wife tells us that he and the rest of the crew are out of town doing fire training. Are you freaking kidding me! The irony kills me. :ROLFLMAO: Finally get it called in and head back home. Within 20 mins of calling it in there were two planes and a helicopter circling and they had it out within a few hours.
No pics because that was the last thing on my mind but here's a link.
