We have a new fire up in the snowy range, mullen fire. Grew to 2000 acres in a day. No natural fire breaks and wind is pushing it uphill in multiple drainages. Heavy beetle kill and blowdown. Forest closure just released shuts down half the mountain, lots of campers up there, bow season is open and lots of people setting up camp for rifle season. They are trying to get everyone out, its going to be a big one.

I was in Encampment yesterday. Couldn’t see anything unusual though due to the blow over smoke

Same here, so much smoke around from everything else that I can't see the plume. Headed up to the top in the morning, should be able to see from there. Its about 20 miles from the cabin. I don't think it will make it up to our compound before winter stops it, but we are close enough that its possible. Libby flats is a break between the fire and the cabin but its not 100% clear. All depends on what the wind does. We are at 10,400ft up there, not as big fire danger at that altitude and the snow comes early.

We will hope. Noted a ton of down and beetle up there. (Was at A Bar A, listed as the western line right now)
The Cameron Fire rolled 10 miles last week in a single day. Need more snow up there

It was bad up there today. Wind came up and blew the fire right up rugged drainages full of deadfall. Blocked out the sun. Its headed right towards the Rambler mine which has a bunch of real nice cabins and houses. Wind is going to be even worse tomorrow.

These smoke maps look like all of our country is enveloped by smoke, but we've had perfect blue skies day after day.

Friday night we had some weather blow in that finally got rid of the smoke and our hazardous air quality.

Smoke from Mullen fire overhead on the weekend. Went psycho with a chainsaw yesterday. Most of the dead trees in the pic are on the ground now. 100' trees sure hit the ground hard! Boom! Cut so much wood I can barely make a fist today.

Mullen looks to be fully out of control. They just expanded the closure again. Smoke is thick in Laramie tonight. My cabin is north of the current expected path so that is good for now. Worked up by the peaks today, nice sunny blue sky, real windy. The wind was pushing the smoke south and east, expanding the fire a lot to the south. More wind tomorrow, possibly some rain and cold sunday but back to wind and warm next week. The smoke plume we saw today was probably the biggest one I have ever seen in person.

Just read the weather forecast of the inciweb, predicting no accumulation, but cold front Sunday. So far it's acting a lot like the Cameron fire. Went north first, then went like crazy on a dead East leg of the southern line

The wind today is crazy. 40-50mph with gusts of 60mph up on the mountain. Mullen fire has crossed the forest and made it to hwy 230. Hwy 230 is closed to colorado, hwy 10 from jelm down to colorado is closed, they are evacuating people all over the east edge of the mountain, clear out into the prairie. Fire must have run 10 miles overnight, the thing is unstoppable right now. It must be well over 50,000 acres by now, the update tonight will be scary.
