What axle is this? It is SUPPOSEDLY out of a 79 chevy 1 ton.
D44 with external hubs 3/4 ton
Yep, what he said. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gifDefinitely not a 60. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
that's what I thought, but the person was calling the truck a 1 ton. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Yep,Thats a Dana 44
k20, some ppl have no idea what a 1 ton is and what makes it different from a 3/4 ton
that is the what some people call "1ton D44" note the HUGE 1ton sized hubs regular external D44 hubs are not that big /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
the 73-76 ones are pretty big, at least full time K20 ones anyways
I was told that the one with the bigger hubs is a heavy Duty dana 44..............used on the Camper specials...
thats the axle your talken about
That's from a pre 79 3/4 ton, it's a Dana 44. It could be a later model, but then it wouldn't be a Dana 44. Those big
hubs are just early model Dana externals. They'll fit most Dana 44 axles if you swap the whole hub assembly.
