1. Buy a truck
2. Trick it out
3. Roll it once

Ah - the tough-guy approach
. Swell. It'll work great.
P.S. Don't forget the Confederate Flag sticker.

Build my entire truck.![]()

Looking back at my current rig setup I don't care much for 52s in the front. They stick out there a lot farther and make me have to hit the vertical walls at an angle. My old TC 47s really did everything I needed. I have my front leaves kinda limited with my bumps to keep them from negative arching and straps to keep them from bending in half at the top plate. I only use 11" or my 14" front shocks. Granted I dont see but only a 3 or 4 guys in this discussion even needing any decent approach angle but the 47" factory length springs do get you a little better for about the same performance. Granted that will be addressed on my rig in the next few months and plenty of testing time before any big trips next summer.
What has caused it to be parked? If it's some mechanical issue that causes need for the doubler I get it otherwise why not get it in service again and just use it?
Tyron, you were at BB this year. What on that list do you ACTUALLY have to do to attend BB in 2013.
Better Pay
Get motor running good
The rest is a CK5 percieved list of things that you have to have, that in reality you haven't for how many years now and you have come to the event and enjoyed yourself right?
Don't get locked down into the mindset that you have to have every piece of equipment known to man on the vehicle to use it. Enjoy the baby steps in the middle too because you might just find that what you have suits what you need and want to do. I will throw JMS under the bus on this one.
It took him forever to go to a 60 int he front, and he still has a carb. I think he has TBI sitting in the garage but he chooses to go out and use instead of work on it till you can't use it. IMO JMS gets more quality "wheeling" in than 95% of the guys on this site and he doesn't even live in the same state as his blazer. It might not be "hardcore" but it's what he enjoys and that is what's important.
My first BB was 2003. I showed up for Sunday on hells revenge after working 72hrs straight through to get the buggy done. No side panels, no driving exp. in it, poly bump stops no headlights etc. It ran and had seats.
I drove it that way for at least a year, Ya I tinkered here and there but the best thing I did was keep it in service and only fix what was actually wrong with it. I ran stock spicer axle shafts and u joints in the front, stock TBI etc. After a while I did bump stops some tuning etc. but largely left the vehicle alone and I like to think after 4 years or so I was actually getting the most out of it.
Am I making sense to anyone?
I just think it seems like the guys that pull leaves out have more trouble.
... forever to go to a 60 int he front...

Of course you know what having a D60 on 35s means, right?
It means you'll hit the rocks in front of the truck 60% of the time...![]()
Seemed that caused a leak to get started

You keep adding stuff you're going to be at 10k lb! Would be fun to be down on the 30th to go flog on trucks though!Thumper is getting a Bad Azz tranny good for 1000hp with reverse manual valve body & a Bad Azz skid plate under the belly so I do not break off the tail of the tranny again! Trading my 2.5 Double Ended Steering Ram from PSC for a PSC 2.75 Ram & beefing up bracing that holds the Ram to the axel. Getting a Sway Bar or Anti Rock put on the front. Getting Vanco Hydro Boost brake system. Installing RCV double spline 300m shafts in the rear with Drive Flanges. Tuning the shocks and being looked over by a pro.
I am getting Thumper back the weekend of Novermber 30th. Going to test drive on 21 road in Grand Junction Colorado. Gonna drive the hell out of it this winter and next spring!
What y'all could do in getting ready to go to Utah next year is write a letter, so you can continue to use your vehicle in the area:

It has been making it's rounds, as far as I know it's accurate. Really it's disturbing to know who supports things like the Sierra Club etc. If you look at the supporters of "our enemies" you wouldn't eat very many places, buy products etc in Moab.
Moab is a classic example of a very diverse user group but the most vocal is the anti OHV user group.
...are they going to ask their customers to walk their kajaks down to the river for 5+ miles?Exactly what I was thinking. I have a feeling they think if they have a seat at the table now, they can make sure and get their interests are accommodated at the expense of everyone else.Since I was a river runner, I'm sort of curious how the tour companies supporting this issue will manage to do put-in and take-out of watercraft in the area......are they going to ask their customers to walk their kajaks down to the river for 5+ miles?
Same for the bike tour companies that run F350 diesel dualies around White Rim road in order to "support" the biking groups with lounge chairs and provisions, because, you know, you can't enjoy the desert biking experience if you were to schlepp your own necessities along...
Methinks it's all a short-term issue - those tour companies would stand to lose a lot more customers and income in the next few years if they would not support the (supposedly) pro-environmental stance. It is their clientele that forces the support, now. Never mind that should this thing go through as intended by SUWA (make no mistake about it - SUWA wants everything closed, not just the roads in the current proposal...), a lot of these companies will have to seek business elsewhere but southern Utah.
