What does it take to run Moab?

You do that one thing and you will be way ahead of alot of poeple.
I agree, that's the perfect plan for your first trip to Moab. :waytogo:

Then you can see what other guys have done, run some trails and you'll get some good ideas on what you should do with your rig.

I will also say make sure your rig is in tip top shape. one thing not mentioned here yet is wheels and tires and some sort of onboard air.
Even in your tires and wheels are in good shape. If they are a little older you should have them broke down and make sure the bead area is clean and not coroded. and yes alum wheels corode as well as steel.

I have only been there a few times but on 2 differnt trips a large group was delayed by wheel/tire problems. Both ended up being a little corosion on the beads of the wheels, when aired down they broke loose. lower air pressure will do ALOT on slickrock even in an open diff rig. My very first time was with a friend in a STOCK 83 K10 long bed with 265x85x16 tires. Only problem we had was borrowing someones on board air at the end of the trail.

Hell we even seen a VW dune buggy (those 1970's fiberglass body types)down there on my second trip.
