I will also say make sure your rig is in tip top shape. one thing not mentioned here yet is wheels and tires and some sort of onboard air.
Even in your tires and wheels are in good shape. If they are a little older you should have them broke down and make sure the bead area is clean and not coroded. and yes alum wheels corode as well as steel.
I have only been there a few times but on 2 differnt trips a large group was delayed by wheel/tire problems. Both ended up being a little corosion on the beads of the wheels, when aired down they broke loose. lower air pressure will do ALOT on slickrock even in an open diff rig. My very first time was with a friend in a STOCK 83 K10 long bed with 265x85x16 tires. Only problem we had was borrowing someones on board air at the end of the trail.
Hell we even seen a VW dune buggy (those 1970's fiberglass body types)down there on my second trip.
