I am goingto regear my rear axle this weekend and want to know if I am mising anything for the install. So far I have:

1. R&P
2. New Carrier(lower gears)
3. Master install kit from randy's
4. Access to a press for the bearings
5. Torque wrenches(ft/lb for bearing caps and in/lb for pinion bearing preload)

Is a dial indicator all i need besides this or am i missing something? thanks

you dont need a new carrier just buy thick gears and put them on the 4.10 and down carrier.:D

Other than that it appears all you need is a dial and a mag base. I warmed my bearings and ring gear on the BBQ grill to install them. The oven will work the same but be careful on either method to not overheat them and change the properties of them. It does not take much heat to make them expand:D .

Already bought the gears for the other carrier(lower split carrier came with the truck when i bought it. Will a dial with the vice grip base work or ony one with a mag base?
