What is this rearend?

It's got 5 lugs, 15" rims, drum brakes. it's in the back of a 73 shortbed I just picked up, but it isn't the original rear end.

Dude, i think its a 2wd 12 bolt. :crazy:

Looks exactly like my old 12 bolt but 5 lug is 2wd, 6 lug is 4wd.

It's a 12b. The 12b's that came in 2wd trucks were 5 lug. 4wd trucks got the 6 lugs.

not that it would be in that truck, but its good to remember that they DID make a 5 lug 14 bolt SF in teh early 90's 454ss truck

You could probablly just get 5 lug SF shafts and put them in it, im sure splines and dia. is all the same, that is, if youd what a 5 lug SF.

look like 2wd 12 bolt. im looking at my 4wd one in my pickup and there identical minus the lug pattern

it is 8.875" gm 12 bolt truck axle '63-82, common as dirt, dime a dozen, all of them 70 and older are 6 lug, no 5 lug ones before then
