What the differences between early 80\'s and late 80\'s frames?

just like it says ^
differences just the fuel lines and which body mounts?

Body mounts are the same from 81 and newer. The older frames from the other bodystyle with round headlights (to include 80, which is the oddball year old bodystle with the square headlights) use different bushings.

I've got an 84 cab on a 79 frame and I had to use the OLD style bushings to do so (73-80).

For K5's, I believe the frames run 73-80, 81-82 & 83+. I believe the change in the 83+ frames was in the slope of the rails midway due to the rear passenger floorboard changes. Aside from a change in the front frame horns I don't know what other changes occured between 73-80 and 81-82.

I had to cut some of the Frame mount on my '78 frame @ the core support when I did my body swap '87 ....Everything else lined up fine....

whats the difference between the two bushings thicknesses?

Re: What the differences between early 80\'s and late 80\'s frames?

For trucks, its really weird. The 80s bushings are flat and all the same thickness, I'm going to say about 1", but don't quote me on that.

For the 73-80 bushings, they're of INCREASING height, from 1" or so in front, to 2" or so in the middle, and 3" or so in the rear. How much sense does that make?

I personally prefer the '80s bushings. If I had it to do all over again, I'd use an '80s frame if available so my truck would still use the '80s bushings.
