I've been considering all my options of what to do as far as Modifications to the crew cab.

Build a nice truck with lots of flex and use stock easily fixable parts that you can wheel and drive around. Nothing to fancy, nothing to hard core and that will make it cheap.

I go thumbs down on lifted duallys. Unless its lifted to fit 10 lug 22.5's and big rig tires to tow more huge ****.

Trail rig definitely.

I like that basic idea, but , with a 12 valve Cummins, manual trans and a 6' bed. Something that you could jump in and drive cross country hitting wheeling spots with along the way :D

Here is what i'm building. Srw wheeler/tow rig
boat side, super short bed, lowest lift possible, overdrive, and 38"-42" tires. And keep a hitch on it to tow with. Kind of a do it all truck.
I havent figured out the rear suspension yet. But the front suspension would be great with a 52" swap.
Tow youre play tow with it, or wheel it when the toy is broke:d
so yes build for the middle 1 and 2

x2 I am with Keith on this Horton really doesn't have much money invested, lots of time but not much money. I have a blast driving him.

56s or 52s up front some 63s out back some 38s cut the bed down a bit put some sliders on a doubler and have a blast with it

Also you could easily drive that around
