What trans??? 94 k2500?

Anyone know what trans is in a 94 k2500 3/4 ton chevy??? 700r4??? 4l60E??? My brothers trans is going, and the trans out in my k5 is still somewhat good(700r4). I plan on doing a 465 swap so I was goign to just give him mine.

4l60e or 4l80e. Depends if its a HD or standard 3/4 ton. Aka if it has 6 lug wheels or 8 lug. My 95 had the 4l80e(8 lug), my dad's 94 had a 4l60e(6 lug).

EIther way a 700R4 won't go in place of it.

Ok he has the 6 lug, so it will not go in. Basically I just needed to know if it was electronic or not. thanks

A 4L60E is basically a computer controlled 700r4.

you can put a 700r4 inplace of a 4l60e (i did it), but you need to ge tthe chip programed so the computer doesn't go nuts thinking there is no tranny behind the motor.

if its a 4l80E, good luck. those are alot different, hard to find and expensive to rebuild, but last forever.
