please help....
what do you use to weld your bumpers and so on, i need more power!!!!!!!
i have lincon weld pac 100 and oxy-ac, i love the torch!!
i got the weld 100 for $150.00 remaned, torch had to buy hoses. thanks in advance.
 
For body work and exhaust stuff I use my Lincoln SP 100.For bumpers and stuff thats gonna take some abuse I use 250 amp Esab.
 
Lincoln 225 mig w/tri-gas, You can get away with using your small Lincoln, on small projects, by pre-heating the metal with the torch and using .035 wire.
 
Hobart 175. Covers the vast majority of my needs. If I need to go larger, my brother is a certified welder.
 
Hobart Handler 175. Good hobiest welder. My bud has a Lincoln 225 buzzbox I use for heavy stuff. He won't seel it to me /forums/images/icons/smile.gif once I find one in a garage sale I'll buy one. For big heavy stuff you can't beat it and it's a lot cheaper to run than a Mig. I have welded 1/2 inch with it.

Welder/fabber by trade here. I've always liked Miller's welders. Use them everyday at work, all day everyday- No problems. If I was gonna buy a welder, it would be the MillerMatic 251. They are expensive, the 251 is $2069. We have 15 of them at work, they all get used everyday and we have no major problemns with them. Here's a link to info on the MillerMatic 251.

The Lincoln 255 is also a very good machine. If I were going to buy a Lincoln, thats what It'd be.
 
At home I have a Clarke 150 EN turbo MIG with gas and a oxy-act torch. Its good for most home uses up to 1/4" thick. If I need more juice I just do it at the shop at work where I have a Miller TIG, Miller MIG, a bunch of 225 amp buzz boxes, and a plasma cutter.
 
I have a Ready Welder II. It's a mig that is adjustable from 30 to 250 amps and runs on one to three 12 volt batteries. Doesn't hurt that I can take it on the trail with me either!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I *love* my Miller 175. For the money, I don't think it can be beat for a serious home/hobby box. For a little less $$ the Hobart 175 is sweet. I'm told now that it has a purge switch (Miller does not). If I had it to do over again, that would have been enough to sway me to the Hobart.
 
Yeah, my neighbor has one of those old monster Lincoln buz boxes with about 20 tap positions for all sorts of stuff. If my 175 runs shy (doubt it will be a problem) I can borrow that monster.
 
I've got a Miller 180 amp TIG/stick welder and I love it. I use stick for anything 1/4" and larger. If I need more power we have a 350 amp Miller TIG in the machine shop at school. I've done 3/4" aluminum with that thing, that was a LOT of heat./forums/images/icons/shocked.gif Thank the lord for water cooled torches!! I really wish I had one of those at home.
 
Currently running my stylin' Harbor Freight special buzzbox, and good old Victor - personally I've gotten where I prefer the torch, I actually get much better quality welds with it on the thin stuff, and with the current electric rates it's a hell of a bunch cheaper to run.

sometme home-depot has reconditioned machines,and you can save bout half. my mig was sitting for 8 months i got a 1year manfactures war just like a new one.
pugsley i like the torch tooooo but i was told not to use on frame makes it brittle????last time i used welding equip,i had funny color clothes and there was a lot armor plates(tanks).

great job on the doors,realy nice.i asked mike about that cool dash of his, for my rock buggy. he told me to build one.wont be pretty but i will....
 
I'm about to build one for mine. Just picked up a load of .100 aluminum last weekend. We dont have the capabilities to weld aluminum though....yet.

And yes, that's a really good single phase 220 welder. I love the 3 phase ESABs we have at the plant though, wish we could afford one at the house!
 
I have a millermatic 200 mig, works good for my needs. I have had it now for about 13 years without a single problem. Can weld up to 1/2" steel plate.
