It does have all the smog/air pump crap. But no cat
does it have a heat shield for one? Does it have the original smog sticker on the grill support?
In CA, only the k20-k30 trucks went without cats in '85. All the "suv" and K10 trucks got them IIRC

Does it have an egr valve? I think it was based of GVWR.

It's based on gvw. So a 3/4 ton could come without. I think 78' was the last year for a 1/2 ton or similiar gvw.

My 83 does not have one.
If the fuel gauge says "unleaded fuel only" and the gas filler has the small inlet, then yes it had a convertor on it originally.
