Swapping rears and I'd like to know what gears are in the new one. What's the easiest way to figure it out?
Thanks!

Covers off, but I don't see any. Where should they be?

rotate the ring gear untill you see em stamped on the gear.

Pull the diff cover and read the numbers...

If you want to be 100% sure don't just rely on what is stamped in as i've seen 1 set thus far that was stamped incorrectly. The ONLY way to know 100% for sure what gear ratio is in a diff is to pull the cover and count the teeth on both gears and divide the ring gear by the pinion gear. :deal:

Looks like I have 4:11's according to the stamp.
Thanks for all of the comments.

Something like GM XX 4 1 1 1 573
Can't remember for sure.

41 11 is 3.73's...

Common mistake, which was why I asked.

Hah, 41 teeth on the ring gear. 11 teeth on the pinion gear...

41/11 = 3.73:1

10 bolts never got 4.11's (38/9), they do get 4.10's though (41/10) and 3.73's (41/11) and 3.42 (41/12) 3.08's (40/13)

Make sense? The ratio is stamped ring gear tooth count followed by pinion gear tooth count. You have to divide the two to get your ratio.
