My brother says a 203 it the best but I think its the 205.
Many people like the 241 because of the low range but the 205 is gear driven.
205 is undeniably the toughest T-Case out there. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
NP205 is deff. the toughest, but the NP241 is all around the best bang for your buck. Granted I would love to have a tripple-stick doubler with the WMS 3:1 gears and have a 6:1 Low range... /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif But for practicall use and the best low range I'd go with the 241.
i think the 208s are a good case. They have a slightly lower low range (2.61:1). And it is lighter than the other ones.
Try 2.72:1 low range in a NP241.
My vote and most people that iknow go for the 205
slip yokes are the work of the devil... my vote goes to the np205 (1980 slip yoke equipped ones excluded of course). The 241 is a decent case if it has a SYE kit on it, but the title of the thread is which STOCK case is best... so there you have it.
does a 79 have a slip yoke???

I like my 241 because I wheel the peee... out of it hard and haven't had a problem with a 350HP&450lbsof torque 406SB motor in front of it with 3/4ton axles and 35" boggers under it.It has a nice crawl with the lowest ratio of them all and with a TH700 you can crawl better than any other stock setup besides the granny 465. I would go for a 205 in a bigger heavier rig with 36's or bigger and lots of horsepower. the 208's and 241's like to leak oil though but I ran mine out more than once and it still works ok.
