Double the market penetration with half of the engineering...

Same reason you used to be able to buy a Mercury or Ford

Re: whats the difference between GMC and Chevy\\?

That why the "Ford is the best selling truck" campaign is BS. If you combine both sales of GMC and Chevy trucks, the numbers would far surpass Ford....oh well... /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

when i was 10 years old i asked that same question to my dads friend and said "The bolts are a little tighter on a GMC" /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

They are basically the same. GMC will have some options that is on a Chevy as stadard equipment so the GMC will cost a little more then Chevy normally.

Re: whats the difference between GMC and Chevy\\?

The only dfference I see is the grille and hubcaps, and the name on the tailgate!--and one of my friends told me GMC stood for "Garage Man's Companion"--but he drives a ferd,so what does he know! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif.My 74 has a crane and winch on it,so I call it a "Great Mobile Crane"!. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I bought an '03 GMC pick-up because I didn't care for the new Chevy front end.

I have wished for years that the GMC line be discontinued and sell only Chevy trucks. Most who bought a GMC would probably buy a Chevy, and the few who don't - who cares. They would then be able to take the prized "best selling truck" line away from Ford. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Re: whats the difference between GMC and Chevy\\?

Actually, it only depends on when your truck was made. Before 1969 GMC was a completely seperate company with seperate factories. They shared the same main Fisher built body panels like cab, fenders and bed but inside they had different dashes, wiring, engines, tranny, axles, etc. There were even many years where GMC only offered only a 305 V6 and no other engine in the 1/2 ton - 1 ton pickups (1960-63).

Re: whats the difference between GMC and Chevy\\?

Is it true that GM has a bit heavy (duty) frame and drivetrain parts? Someone told me that when I asked a few years ago /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Re: whats the difference between GMC and Chevy\\?

no, they are teh same parts and frames and trucks for the most part. The modern GMCs and Chevys are a little different in body but thats all I can figure is really different.

I'd always thought it was, "Girly Man's Chevy," myself.

GMC is the oldest truck company in the world. I doubt they'll be discontinued any time soon.

Since GMC has is the oldest truck line still being made I think they should discontinue the Chevy Truck badge and just stick with GMC (Grabowsky Motor vehicle Company). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
