Well something tells me I'll be fine since the stock shafts have held up to my 36's and locker.

So why the upgrade if your stock stuff is holding up?Just askin :D

I think those Yukon numbers may be a little inflated but they are a good upgrade from stock.

And for those running stock 10 bolt/Dana 44 shafts that want more from their front shafts but dont want to drop coin on chromo stuff :D

Grind or machine your stock shafts for full circle snap rings and run Spicer 5-760x joints. Most stock shaft failures I have seen in the joint area are due to the half clips comming out,the cap falling out,and in turn pulling the ears outa the shaft.

With the full circle snap rings the cap cant fall out.I have run stock Dana 44 shafts with the ears stretched .030+ for longer than I thought possible before failure.

And the Spicer 760s tore the ears out of both of my Warn chromo shaft failures. For an off the shelf stock type joint these are as good as you can git :D

And just for refrence value :tongue1:,
On my one 60 shaft failure,my Spicer 35 spline outer and 5-806 joint was stronger that a stock non neck down outer.Had I been able to find the caps with all the needle bearings intact,I could have just replaced the inner and been good to go :D

Ok Im done spewing useless info

Frizz.... are those d60 joints or what?

I've been pricing and it looks like 700 for a built 10b or d44 (yukon shafts and super joints).... :eek1:

If you've got a dremel then no big deal but otherwise don't bother.... get a 60. Hell you can find them around here for 600 on CL

I paid $600 for the axles shipped and assembled. I looked up prices, its

$350 a piece for a superjoint so thats $700 off the bat.
An axle shaft set is $650 depending on where you buy it from.

The PO told me that he bought it all at once and paid $1000 or $1100 new.

I upgraded because I'm like that. I like to have the best stuff as piece of mind whether I use it or not. I just dont have the time and place to completely go through another axle (IE dana 60) plus I just bought 44 crossover and so on. We'll see what happens.

42" Swampers and hitting heavy with all the good stuff underneath, Worked over 14 and built 60

The Spicer 760 is the Dana 44 joint and the 806 is for the 60.I believe these are the toughest stock type joints you can by.

It would take you forever to do it with a Dremel :haha: I have done it with 4 1/2" and 6" grinders and the last few on the mill. And you should "bother" .The benefits of this mod to a stock shaft are huge .Full circle snap rings can greatly improve the life span of a stock shaft in any application.

And a Dana 60 isnt the answer for everyone :D

Ahhh.....

True... but a 700 dollar 10b isn't necessarilly a good way to go either.:D

I had $1500 in my Dana 44 :D
Lol tell me about it. $200 for the axle, $100 for the locker, $550 for the steering, $75 for the knuckles, $100 for BJ's, $75 for bearings and now $600 for shafts.

So lol I'm there. I think the biggest trap I put myself in was running tires for a 15in wheel...
