ha. i hear this happening a few times... ive drove mine in 4hi for like 5 miles... wasnt really binding on turns or anything i was just wondering why it felt a bit slow

Ive been there. we were camping last year at an off-road park and I was awoke by a loud ass truck coming across the campground at like 7000 RPM, it was the ole lady. She decided to drive my truck to the shower building and didnt know it has a reverse manual valve body so she drove the whole mile or so in first gear, got out and told me my truck was running like crap (rev limiter) and wouldnt go very fast.:doah:

I have been there my wife said she wanted to learn how to rock crawl. My suburban was on 35 at that time she got in it and i had took her to a easy spot with a bunch of little leadges with the big one being only 8 inches tall she slames the gas to the floor and then slames the brake so i tell her to give a little gas and take easy well she slames it again a bounes so bad she snaped a front axle

How long did it take her to go the 40 miles? An hour and a half? :haha:

99-00 or so I was working for Enterprise Rent A Car in San Diego. Our branch was in a Land Rover/Porche dealership. Lady comes in to Land Rover one day and complains that her Range Rover is slow, getting terrible gas mileage, and loud.
Being a hot trophy wife all 4 service writers are eager to help her.
Service writers go out and look at it.
Come back in 3 minutes later slapping themselves on the back and laughing hysterically.

She'd been driving it around daily for several weeks in 4lo. Luckily the Rover's central diff was slipping enough to not just blow stuff up.

I followed a girl to her house once and she was driving some pos sundance or something. She would get up to about 70mph and slow down to 50mph over and over the whole way (about 25 miles). When we got to her house I asked her what the hell she was doing and she said "my car wouldn't shift and the engine was really loud!" I laughed and informed her she had shifted her car into 2 instead of D. OOPS!

Just remember, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!!!!!! Got to be something in thier blood

I don't see how 4LO is any different than 4HI to the front driveshaft. Once one of those boots is cut, the joint is hosed. That rust in there didn't form in the last 40 miles.

shaft came out of a 04 jeep liberty she drove it 40 miles before it caught on fire she has been driving it for who knows how long before that and after that

I've done this...

When I first got my 77 running it had a 205/465. I did not have any shift linkage hooked to the case, when I first drove it I was **** excited...haha The truck would get loose just rolling into the throtte.

Then I listened closer because I heard a whining....:doah:

I've been guilty of driving in 4wd myself but usually notice the difference fast.

Now on the other hand when i had a brake caliper lock up i decided to just drive it home. WAsn't far from home at the time. Needless to say when i pulled into the driveway i had toasted the brakepad and rotor and i couldn't believe it didn't catch fire. it did smell something awful though
