what the hell, it says bananaland!
On the outside of my firewall,,,,,but whats my inside IP ?????
The IP Address is: 22.214.171.124. The host name is: cpe-72-181-115-156.houston.res.rr.com.
that is what the world see's me as,,only the outside IP,,not the inside
What's the difference between Outside and Inside IP's?
Crossing a firewall converts your "inside" IP to an "outside" IP that the world "see's" you as...This is the IP address that the ISP provides to you...a hacker cannot access your P/C if he does not know what the computers IP routing is on the inside...because he only see's you on the outside of the firewall,,,not your P/C's "inside" address.
Just to complete the hijack - Does my wireless router and/or software firewall do this or do I need a seperate piece of equipment?
your router does this. The technology wasted wages is talking about is called NAT (Network address translation)
I am a little black dot standing on third rock from the sun.
Got to much sun..................... did ya?
Or you could always use AOhell and have a different IP each time you log on...
yes ... I suppose you COULD do that.
But then you'd be using AOL .... might as well buy a Ford while you're at it ... yuppy
