radio antenna? I'm seeing some on the passenger side fender. Some I'm just not seeing at all. Mine doesnt have any hole on the fender, so where the heck could it be located, or where is it supposed to be located?

It's most likely in the windshield. See if you have 2 thin black lines running up the center of the glass starting at a plug at the dash, that's it.

Check smack dab in the middle of your windshield. Two wires should extend up through the middle and branch left and right. Down at the base of the windshield is the "puck" that attaches to your radio antenna wire. This makes contact with the wires and supplies your signal. If your windshield doesn't have the wires, more than likely it was replaced without it. The puck should still be there.

Can't supply pics-truck is in the shop. Sorry

Merry Christmas!

damn, that was fast. lol. And yeah, I noticed the two lines running down the windshield a while ago, and was wondering wtf they were. I Guess this was high tech in 83?

Probably more like "cheaper" in 1983. Actually seems to work pretty well, and nice to have clean fenders with nothing to snag. :)

I seem to recall that my grandad's '73 is built this way too.

This is where I decided to mount my autozone antenna:

Works pretty nice for me, but I'd like a power antenna to get better reception.

My 75 and 79 in the window worked better then my 88 on the fender.

care to elaborate on how a power antenna will get you better reception? :ears:

I'm not exactly sure, but the antenna I have now is basically just a 1 wire hook up. The stereo that I put in has an extra yellow wire coming out the back of it that the instructions say its for a power antenna. I'm just kinda assuming that that kind of antenna will get me better reception. :dunno:

your "antenna" *should* be somewhere in the lower part of the front of yuor truck, it should at times protrude outward depending on how HARD you look...:haha: :haha: :haha: **** i should go to bed

anyway ya mineis in the windshield too

you're mistaken. the "power antenna" is one that goes up and down with a motor every time you turn the radio on or off. that's a 12v power source for it, and then its grounded by a wire from the motor to the body somewhere.

i didnt ever notice my antenna was in the windshield, i thought that was to make it easy to center the rear view mirror:doah: but then again, i have neither a rear view mirror, nor a working radio:haha:
