I've got a set of 56" springs from a 2wd GMC and a set of late model Dodge Ram 1500 springs that measure 59". Which would you guys run and why?

Wheel base will be between 117" and 119". 52"s front.

Isn't the pin centered on the Dodge springs? I've got reversed 56's now but have been thinking about using Dodge springs. My reason would be moving the axle back some without having to run the springs backwards (having the axle on the wrong side of the arch).

To be quite honest, I've never checked that out. They were given to me and I was going to use them because of their length. I'm shortening a long bed so center bolt/pin position never entered my mind.

edit: According to a thread on Pirate, they measure 60" and are offest 4" forward. 28" between front eye and bolt center, 32" between bolt center and rear eye. Chevy 63" are 0" offset.

I would use the Dodge springs. Why cause I used them before and they flex great

My dodge 59's were too soft to support the rear of my suburban, I had to add the leaves from another pack to it.

Sounds like all the reason I need! How did you run them? Shackle flip, inboarded, add-a-leaf?

Mine were actually lift springs in the rear but I had about 7" of lift. I ran stock spring in the front. They were inboarded to just outside the frame. I ran them under the frame and they were way too soft there. Way to much body roll. They were shackle flipped I just built all the mounts. Being right off the frame it was easy to do. I did have a friend run them in the rear (stock springs) and we added a couple of leaves from his original front (blazer) pack and they worked awesome gave about 4" of lift the way we did it. Realize these were all on custom mounts.

1/2 ton Chevy 63"ers. Flex great and easy to find. Plan on running the flat bottom spring or some sort of anti wrap to help with the axle wrap. Im using them now, on my second set. Plan on having to move spring hangers too.

I expect to do all custom mounts. As it turns out, I'll be swapping everything over to a 2wd frame. The 4wd frame was really rusty around the rear spring hangers. When we started working around it, it was really hashed. The 2wd frame is alot nicer. I figured since I was doing everything custom anyways, no reason not to use it.

Can someone suggest some good brands of poly spring bushings so I can rebuild my spring packs?
