Which TBI Engine is better? : 454 or 350?

The 350 TBI is a dime-a-dozen. I went to a junk yard a couple of days ago, and saw about 20 trucks and vans, which had TBI 350 (87 to 95) engines in them. None of the TBI engines I saw where BB 454's. The LS engines get scarfed up somewhat quickly. I saw one of those, and I saw a couple of Vortec 350's too.

Kinda a vague question.... Their both good, proven motors. What your looking to do with the motor is the question you need to answer first.

What he said....... ^^^^^^^

the BB does have better power due to the cubes....

BUT , I will say this.... for as anemic as the cam and heads are on a 350 version, the BB ones are worse.... the power band on any factory TBI is pretty lame, but the BB is a total joke... Mutt trips all over itself at about 3800, 4 g's... you could refer to the cam as a pimple stick....

all that said.... if you where gonna optimize a TBI motor with custom fuel tables, good cam spec's and decent flowing heads, the BB would eat the SB for a snack due to the cubes...

Look into the BBC Vortecs instead of TBI. Those produce some good results.
