Okay, here we go. Ive pretty much got a blank canvas for my interior. If you look at my other post, youll see that im having the truck LINE X. Now I dont know what I want to do for the interior. I really like how SKIGIRL has hers setup and may consider something similar to that.

And I like how one magazine setup their roll cage.

Im just wondering about ditching the rear seat. I rarely and I mean rarely (literally once in the 5 years ive owned the truck) have used the rear seat.

Just wondering if anyone ran into situation where they wish they had left it in. This truck is a DD if that matters.

Just this morning I yanked my back seat and put it into a shed... I may use it again, maybe.

But if you never tote more than 2 people, it's not required, and you get more space for stuff for those two people if you yank the seat.

Which is why mine went -- gonna be two tool boxes back there, room for gas/water cans, the air tank for the OBA... and some genuine empty space, suitable for moving around in to GET to the other stuff. That top truck (Skigirls?) seems like you'd hafta clamber over one box to get to another, hard on the knees, never mind the diamond plate.

I figger if there's enough room for me to get back there, and still have a medium-sized cooler for lunch and water, I'm a happy man. The tools and parts and recovery gear will get carefully and half-neatly stuffed into the boxes -- they're more important than leaving room for my friends who never come with me =))

'Course I'm also thinking about a bench seat for the front when I update the cage, which means I could tote three people. ::shrug::

Mine's out...isn't going back in more than likely. I don't want or need an excuse to transport extra people, and the added room is nice.

I took mine out years ago. Blazer is just more handy with the extra room.
Plus I like to keep camping simple when I am hunting. Throw out the gear.
Unroll the sleeping bag and air matress in the back. I'm camping :laugh:Mother nature can throw her worst at me. I just smile fire her up and turn on the heater.

I was going to run 2 Corbeau Baja SS seats in back but I have decided to go with a Mastercraft bench seat. Im keeping a back seat, just wont be stock.

got my back seat leaning against the wall in my bedroom, i was the only one who ever sat on it. granted i have a suburban, so i have the middle seats if ever needed but 99% of the time i leave my middle seats folded down, lots of room for for cargo that way.

I had been thinking about the ability to stretch out in the back, myself.
We have a daughter, who would need the back seat when we drive the truck, though it isn't my daily driver. I suppose I'll keep it in there for now.

I removed mine last year. I won't take the kids till the cage is installed. I mounted a toolbox in it's place, but left the mounts and bolts in place. I actually use the floor bolts to help hold the toolbox in place. Works well for me.

Cool do it , because Im wanting to do the same thing. Then I could learn how by reading your build thread on it :D

Well, it's easy -- all I have to do is buy the rest of the steel to build the bender, build the bender, buy the tube, bend it properly and tack it in, while measuring to mount the bench and tabs for the harnesses... oh, then remove the cage, finish welding, repaint the cage, reinstall the cage and seat and harnesses... ... oh, and bend the stinger for the rear tire carrier a la Dontoe et al and get that mounted to the rear bumper and welded up...

I'm currently looking as far forward as finishing the toolbox mounting in the back area, get the air tank and hi-lift situated, and THEN someday get around to the rest of it. :D

Anyway, to get back on-thread...

In the back, a full-width Weatherguard toolbox, rear-opening -- your basic side-opening style. The back seat would actually JUST fit in front of this should I decide to put it back.

I'm gonna build some dividers for the box, and I got a drawer unit with it (Craigslist deal) ... I just threw all this stuff in there (1) to take the pic and (2) to tidy up my workspace a little [this was all the crap in the other box, see below, and it was too heavy to move with all that in there :haha: ]

In the front of that tool box is space for three gas and water cans:

And then forward of those will be that black plastic, top-opening tool box you see in the top pic, though not so far forward. I should end up with about three feet behind the front seats, leaving me enough room to get in there should I need stuff from the box, and still fit a cooler and other ancillaries as necessary.

The only puzzle I have left is what to do with the air tank... could put it beside the black plastic box, could put it on top of the Weatherguard, 'cuz the rear stinger tire carrier's gonna block rear view anyway...
