I know I should search, but I never find anything specific when I search... I hate to throw in the towel on my carb situation, but I may have a line on everything I need to go throttle body... What all exactly do I need to convert my 350 to fuel injection, I know I need a pump, manifold, throttle body, and a crapload of wiring stuff... do I need any special sensors? Do I have to have cats? How hard is it? If its nothing more than a glorified manfold swap and some wiring, I can do that, but I've got a feeling that it will be far harder... would love to hear some stories on swapping in fuel injection..
thanks,
James

I know a thing or two about EFI :)

Catch me on MSN tommorow, and we'll go over the basics! Based on this, I assume you didn't get the old girl running properly?

anybody know of some good articles? I'm just trying to feel out how involved of a swap it would be before I dive into it. I'm seriously thinking about buying all these parts from a guy, if I think that I can have the skill to do the swap. What all sensors would I need to install? I know some of you have gone from a carb setup to Fuel Injection :wink1:
thanks,
James

Long story short, you find a donor, and you take everything off of donor that is any way shape or form connected to the EFI, and put it on yours. :)

Ryan B has a pretty darn good writeup in the tech section.

Generally speaking, without hurting anything too much, and without changing the PROM, there are only three things that most GM EFI uses that you can get away with NOT swapping over: AIR, EVAP, and EGR. EGR and EVAP are pretty easy to keep in place on a "stock" setup, but AIR is usually a hassle with headers, the pump, etc.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something or two, but that should get some discussion started. :)

The only major concern I have with your engine is that camshaft.

Might cause all sorts of issues with the TBI.

Yeah, its probably ALOT more realistic for me to stick with a carb. I guess I need to just rebuild my edelbrock, assuming that's what my troubles are coming from. I'm gonna replace my plug wires before I crack the rebuild kit open, because I know they are causing a few problems, as they look like swiss cheeze, and shock you very badly when you touch them with the engine running, causing your buddies to laugh at you........ask me how I know :o
thanks,
James

edelbrock has a complete kit to convert throttle body to TPI. It runs about $1200. I have not used it but am considering going that way myself.
