I've been thinking about this some recently, and it might be nice to have some 'extra' stuff laying around in case SHTF (or even natural disaster). My current job with the USAF would give me other priorities, but this list of stuff would be more useful once I separate from the service. This is what I was thinking: Flack vest + helmet -- useful for intended purpose and other sources of shrapnel Gas mask + canisters (or at least my respirator) -- dust/fire/smoke and NBC Tent and tarps Sleeping bag and blankets MRE's + some canned food Water purification equipment + canteens Quick-start firelogs, waterproof matches Hatchet Jerry Cans for gas + water 550 chord, caribiners first aid items my firearms and plenty of ammo (12 gauge, .22, .357 magnum) The way I see it, with a short list of items like that, I could easily fit 90% of the items in a good ol A-bag. Everything could be loaded up in the Jimmy and I could be on the road in short notice, and be prepared enough to self-sustain somewhere for a while. Albeit it's not a complete list, but the core is there. Anybody else have a similar list or keep something similar on-hand?
