How come they even make 315/75 tires if they are just equivalent to a 35-12.5 tire? Just was thinking about it and it seems strange for a company to make the same tire in both these sizes.

Section width, not tread width.315 is the tread width in mm, 75 is the aspect ratio as a % and R16 is obviously rim diameter.
metric seems to be the new way for all tire sizing. most of the world operates in metric.

Well, we already speak spanish.YES! Eventually all the tires will be measured in this format, and you guys will bend to accomodate our metric system!
BWA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Does anyone else see the humor in the fact that the 'metric' size still has the Wheel Diameter in Inches?

You will still find lots of people SURE that 315 is the height of the tire.
