why put shocks through the floor in the cab

Why put shocks through the floor?
I have seen several do it and was wondering why? Is there a benefit from this?
or is it just preference?

In order to get them vertical and have longer travel, the length has to go somewhere.

You could mount them horizontal with a cantilever shock mount. Heck, you can even double the travel if you want.
