...the CUCV D-ring mounts and brackets?

Got an '87 V30 and wanting to use the brackets on front and rear but also wanting to use the hitch, too. Don't want to buy the hitch and find out it won't fit.

And since the brackets are different on the rears, is there any way I can use the rear bumper like on the Blazers on to the pickups? I'm more partial to those bumpers than the step type.

Depends on the hitch.

My ex-FIL and I custom made mine. Others have reported finding hitches that did fit and some even got trucks from the government with hitches already installed. Only thing I can say off the top of my head is that none of the hitches were a big name.

I don't know about your hitch question, but as for the bumpers, I have seen blazer/suburban rear bumpers mounted on to pickups several times. I don't know what mods (if any) are required. I am thinking of doing the same to my 88 R30

I've seen the reverse where a guy put the step bumper on his Blazer. Involved a bit of cutting and welding...I believe he joined the bumper brackets after cutting them in half and using the Blazer "frame" end with the pickup "bumper" end. I think. It's been a while.

This truck is for sale in the classifieds. Might want to pm him and ask how he mounted the rear blazer bumper

Don't need to ask that guy. Those bumpers came on the regular trucks, too. Just two out of the four brackets are different than Blazers and Subs.

My '85 K30 has that same bumper in the pic. I'm wanting to put the same thing on my '87 V30. I like these better than step bumpers.

I've got my eyes (and heart) set on a Valley hitch and have been eyeing the Redline/Redneck hitches, too.

I just want to verify they'll fit with the CUCV brackets before buying. Somewhere, someone out there has got this combo on their rig. Just gotta find that person to ask. :doah:

Any of them have the blueprints of their stuff? I believe Drawtite does on it's site. At least then you could get measurements and measure out if it would fit/clear the D ring brackets.

They do!?! Well you learn something new everyday. Every 73-87 pickup my family has owned all had step bumpers.

i'm about to go through this too. just picked up a cucv bumper and clevis mounts from Kennyw. his was used with a reciever, but to do it they cut the crap out of the bumper brackets. i got new/uncut brackets from him too, so now i need to figure a new system out so don't have to cut anything.

let me know if you find a hitch that works without cutting. might just need to have a custom reciever made up...

does anyone have a good picture of the CUCV setup without the bumper on? i've never seen one in person and i'm surious. thanks, Bill
